Jayne O’Mahony

Jayne O’Mahony is a well-established West End performer who made her debut at the age of eight when she created the role of young Cosette in Les Misérables at the Barbican and Palace Theatre in 1985. Jayne returned several years later to play Cosette as an adult, making her the first person to have achieved this.

Jayne trained at Redroofs Theatre School alongside Kate Winslet and during her time there was chosen to compete in the BBC’s Bob Says Opportunity Knocks talent contest, winning second place. Jayne then went on to represent the UK in The Danny Kaye Awards for UNICEF, hosted by Audrey Hepburn, winning Best UK Song.

Jayne finished her education at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama and, before doing so, was offered her first role in the West End. She later went on to play Peron’s mistress in Evita, starring alongside Marti Webb and John Barrowman in the UK tour, and later appeared at the Spectrum arena in Oslo.

Jayne also performed this role at the Chelmsford Open Air Festival to an audience of over 20,000. Other credits include Gretel in Humperdinck’s opera Hansel and Gretel. Jayne was invited to perform in the 10th Anniversary Concert of Les Misérables at the Royal Albert Hall and for the closing ceremony of Euro ‘96 at Wembley Stadium. She was also asked to sing with the original cast of the show in the 25th Anniversary Concert at the O2.

Over recent years Jayne has toured internationally, giving concerts in Moscow, St Petersburg, Taiwan, Bahrain, Dubai, Croatia, New York, China and Singapore. She regularly performs with the Pops Orchestra and is delighted to have appeared at the Kwai Tsing Theatre in Hong Kong with the 60-piece Hong Kong Sinfonietta.
